Transforming Carbon

“a journey with carbon, for carbon, of carbon, for a world

where our understanding of carbon shapes our survival.”

The Transforming carbon show was set in the ruinous backdrop of the Industrial School of the Abbotsford Convent on Wurundjeri Country in March, 2022.

The show was part art exhibition, part installation, part immersive performance lecture. It took the viewer on a journey of carbon cycles, using a lens of molecules and a language of deep intimacy. This combination created an experience of internal connection to the long time story of carbon, how carbon moves as both slow and fast with the planet, creating and eroding as it transmigrates.

How can we care for carbon?

This is the beginning of a journey to explore a reframing of carbon. The art show was part of a research process to develop new narratives and immersions to trace carbon in our oceans, soils, saltmarshes, forests, grasslands, biodiversity, in ourselves.
